Simple Photo Editing: PicMonkey & MS Paint

PicMonkey Photo Editing

Since Pinterest is just my hobby, I have no need for professional editing. To optimize some pins I have been "playing around" with PicMonkey. It is a brilliant tool for quick editing of your photo's and very user friendly. I just used the browser based version. By clicking the "Edit" button on their home page, you can get started immediately.

To put pictures together I used MS Paint. It is probably possible to use PicMonkey for this also. I haven't read any of their tutorials yet, so I am not sure.

Most of the lovely pictures of cutiepiegoodies are too small to get beautiful large pins. I used her pictures to learn more about the use and possibilities of PicMonkey. Cutiepiegoodies makes clothing and accessoires for newborn & children, which you can buy in her store at Etsy (see the source link).

On the left you see the collage of pictures in their normal colors. On the right I used the "boost" feature to enhance the colors. First I resized the pictures to 570 x 379 to easily fit them together in MS Paint. Personally I like the boosted version.

Then I made the picture on the right using the "Black and White" & "Boost" features to bring out all the tones a little more. With the picture on the left I used the "Frost" tool to bring out the white tones.

To change the picture to one dominant color turned out to be a lot more difficult. I used "Warhol" which allows you to pick a color for the dark tones as well as the light tones. You can get many different colored versions of the same picture. I found it hard to decide which colors to pick so it would make a nice picture to look at.

This is a version in purple and violet tones which I like a lot. 

I duplicated and flipped these pictures or used different pictures and put them together in MS Paint. All repins need to be linked to cutiepiegoodies or credited to her name.

Dion used to be my neighbour and he was my son's friend. From early age on he showed a lot of creativity. I remember him playing the drums and motivating his friends to go play "street artists". Going in line through the streets making their music.

After he got a children's magic box a whole new world opened for him. He didn't just play around with some tricks, like most children do. He wanted to be a magician!

He also grew affinity for dance which he calls his second passion.

My First Blog - Intro, Pinterest

Intro

This is my first time as a "blogger". I still need to figure out how this works. For some time I have been thinking about starting my own blog. I am not really familiar with the concept and I don't follow any blogs but I have stumbled on some from time to time. I am not much of a writer. While writing this I notice that I hate to use the word "I" all the time. I guess I don't like to refer to myself so often...

I used to be a gamer and I am used to write in games. Quick, short sentences, abbreviations, no caps for every beginning of a sentence, not typing complete words. Basically raping the english language and I don't care about that. I am already getting tired of this. The idea of a blog is probably to write a nice story in correct grammer and to add a photo here and there. But I guess thats not me. forget about it. i write how i want. do what i want. dunno if someone will ever read this anyways. and if you don't like it, why are you still reading?

nine years ago i got fibromyalgia. it changed my life. this is another reason i dont like to write. my hands hurt all the time. cant type much because of it.

been editing my first couple of posts now i begin to understand how this blog thing works and what the hell i am doing. been trying to write some good constructed sentences, with perfect grammer. but this intro is mine. so u can forget about me being bothered about this too much. besides english is not my native language although is just as easy to write like a mongrol in dutch :D ok nuff said about this, made my point. i figured out to put widgets of my pin accounts. pretty cool. gonna publish this intro again. dunno if thats considered spamming. but who cares.


Pinterest

What made me start this blog is Pinterest. I am a newbie but I am already addicted to it. I have so many idea's on subjects I want to collect pictures of and also about what I want to do do with them.

Initially I started collecting by theme and color, but I made a second account for my interest in art, creativity, photography, architecture, culture, people, nature and so on. My boards on Pinterest will reflect my interests.

I want to place pictures on this blog that I need to cut to create taller pins. So there u have it, my main reason to start this blog.
